Importing a deck

"Re-export this deck"

Anki has two package formats. The newer one is compressed with zstd, which iOS has no built-in support for, so Foldcard 1.0 cannot read it. The fix is one checkbox on your side:

1. In Anki on your computer, choose File → Export.
2. Set the format to Anki Deck Package (.apkg).
3. Tick "Support older Anki versions".
4. Export, and import that file into Foldcard.

Everything else is identical — you keep your scheduling history either way.

"This file does not contain an Anki collection"

The file is not an .apkg package. A .colpkg file is a whole-collection backup rather than a deck export, and Foldcard does not read those. Export the deck itself instead.

My import report says cards were not imported

Foldcard has three card types: Basic, Basic reversed and Cloze. A note type with more than two card templates is imported as Basic with every field kept, and its extra cards are reported rather than created — showing you the same content three times would be worse than not having it. The number in the report is exact.

My deck arrived but nothing is due

Two likely reasons. Cards that were suspended in the source deck stay suspended here and never enter a session; the import report counts them. And the daily limits (20 new, 200 reviews by default) apply to an imported backlog too — raise them in Settings.

Where did my sub-decks go?

They are there, as separate decks keeping their full name: Course::Chapter 2. Foldcard has a flat deck list.

The standing layout

On an iPhone Duo, standing the device on a desk between roughly 90° and 130° splits the session: card above the crease, grades below it. Opening the device flat returns to a single panel. Closing it pauses and saves your place.

The fold never grades, advances or skips a card. If you want to see what the app is measuring, Settings → About → Diagnostics shows the live angle, the posture band and the filter profile it chose.

The scheduler

Foldcard uses SM-2, the algorithm behind classic Anki. Starting ease 2.5, minimum 1.3, learning steps of 1 and 10 minutes, a 1-day graduating interval and a 4-day easy interval. Answering Again on a review card returns it to the learning steps and resets its interval, and its ease drops by 0.20. Every value is listed in Settings → Scheduler.

Purchases

Restoring

Settings → Purchase → Restore purchase. The unlock is a one-time non-consumable tied to your Apple Account, so it restores on any device you sign in with.

Refunds

Apple handles all refunds: reportaproblem.apple.com. If the app did something wrong, tell us as well — we would rather fix it.

Your data

Everything is on your device. Deleting the app deletes your decks, and there is no copy anywhere else because Foldcard has no networking code at all. Back up through your normal device backup.
